Dana Pistey, B.Sc. |
Dana started working in the lab during the spring 2015 semester, as part of the synthetic subgroup. Her work will be featured in a future publication. She graduated in 2017 and she is a military officer for the US Army.

Jacob Bryant, B.Sc.Jacob joined the group during the Spring 2016 semester, in his senior year as a chemistry major on the Materials Chemistry track. He brought expertise in the group from his year long research work with Dr. Jimenez on photoluminescence and glass materials. He was the leader of the characterization sub-group, and responsible of the luminescence studies of materials. His work was published in a recent paper, and another manuscript is under review. He left the group in June 2017 and started working at Advanced Environmental Labs in Jacksonville. He then switched jobs and went to work as a materials scientist at Johnson & Johnson. He is currently preparing his graduate school applications.

Shannon McPherson, B.Sc.Shanon joined the group during the Summer 2016 semester. She worked over one year in the characterization sub-group, responsible for optical and magnetic studies. Shannon was elected to participate in a high-pressure science workshop at the University of Nevada during Fall 2016. Soon after she graduated with her B.Sc. in chemistry from UNF in Spring 2016, she started working at the Naval base in Jacksonville (NAS JAX) as a scientist.

Sergio A. Corrales, B.Sc.Sergio was in the group for nearly 4 years. He presented a number of posters (two best poster awards), and an oral presentation as well; he is coauthor in 2 published manuscripts and first author in a third, while more will result from his work. He was the leader of the synthesis sub-group for 3 years. He left the group in July 2017 to start medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg South Carolina.

Najah Mhesn, B.Sc.Najah received her Chemistry degree from UNF in Fall 2016. Prior to that, she has been in the group for 2 years. She has presented a number of posters in different conferences and meetings. Her work was published in a recent paper, and another manuscript is currently under development. She was a best poster award recepient for one of her presentations.
She started in the synthesis subgroup and then switched to characterization, including magnetism measurements and luminescence studies. She is starting her materials science Ph.D. at Clemson University this fall. |

Taylor Jenkins, B.Sc. |
Riju received his Chemistry degree from UNF in Fall 2016. He has been a part of the group for a year. He has presented his work in the group as an oral presentation at FIMS, as well as a number of posters. Riju will be preparing for medical school during the year after graduation. Riju is currently teaching science at a local high school.

Taylor received her Chemistry degree from UNF in Spring 2016. She was part of the group for nearly 2 years. She presented a number of posters from her work at local meetings and symposia, and she was a best poster award recepient for one of her presentations. Taylor joined the Chemistry PhD program at the University of Florida in the Fall of 2016.

Martin Garnero, B.Sc.Martin graduated in the Spring 2016 with his B.Sc. Chemistry degree. He worked in the group for 1 year. He presented his work in several poster presentations on the UNF campus and in different statewide conferences.

John M. Cain, B.Sc.John received his bachelors in chemistry from UNF in 2014 and is now pursuing a Ph.D. degree at UF in the group of Prof. Talham. He is posing in front of a High Field EPR instrument at the Magnet Lab where he did several measurements on his samples. He worked in the group for over a year and he is first author of a review paper, and two regular papers. He received the 2012 UNF chemistry summer fellowship, and he was supported by the Research corporation grant.

Kelley A. Uhlig, B.Sc.Kelley Received her degree in chemistry in 2014, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree at the College of William and Mary's School of Marine Science (SMS) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. She worked in the group for about 1 year. Her work is featured in a published manuscript.

Anna Javed, B.Sc.Anna graduated from UNF with a degree in Chemistry during the summer of 2013. Since then she has been attending pharmacy school at UF. She worked in the lab for 2 semesters, and she is a coauthor in a paper.

Joseph Henthorn, B.Sc.Joe received his chemistry degree in 2012. He is the first author in a published manuscript. After graduation, Joe worked as a chemist at Adpen Labs, an analytical chemistry company in Jacksonville. He is now working as a chemist at Vistakon (a J & J company).

Netra Mishra, B.Sc.Netra, a native of India, worked in the group for 2 semesters; he graduated in 2012. His work was featured in a published manuscript, in which he is a coauthor. He is starting pharmacy school at Ohio State University in the Fall 2017.

Matthew Pegram, B.Eng.Mat was a mechanical engineering major at UNF, and he was in Dr. Lampropoulos' general chemistry class. He got interested in the group's research and worked on the sensors project. His work was featured in a published manuscript, in which he is a coauthor. He decided to transfer to UF to complete his engineering degree. His passion for designing/making instrument parts has allowed him to work in the physical chemistry laboratory of Prof. Polfer at UF. Mat is also, Dr. Lampropoulos's partner in Lamp Light Tech LLC. Pictured with Nobel laureate, the late Sir Harold Kroto. He graduated in Spring 2015 with his bachelors in engineering degree from UF. He is now working as an engineer at Vistakon (Johnsons & Johnsons).

Anna L. Castro, B.Eng.Anna was Dr. Lampropoulos's first student researcher. She is a native of Brazil, and she joined the group during the 2011-2012 academic year. She is a coauthor in one of the group's publications. She decided to transfer to USF on a full scholarship to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. She received the 2012 UNF chemistry summer fellowship. She recently graduated from USF with a chemical engineering degree, and is now a graduate student at Georgia Tech.

Christopher D. Haun, B.Sc./M.Sc.Chris joined the group in the spring of 2012 and worked for 2 semesters on the sensors project. His work was featured in a published manuscript. After completion of his degree he taught chemistry at the community college level, and in 2014 he entered the UF Chemistry Graduate program; he graduated with an M.Sc. in chemistry, and is now working in the chemical industry.

Chad McDaniel, B.Sc.Chad was one of the first students working on the synthesis of molecular magnets, and he was the one who made the first product of this project. He now works at NAS Jacksonville naval base.

Hunter Douglas, B.Sc.Hunter was the first student who worked on the sensors project. His initial results were published, and he was a coauthor of this manuscript. He now works as a chemist at DSM Bright Science Brighter Living in North Carolina (part of the Royal DSM company).

Dr. Shoumen DattaDr. Datta, an MIT affiliate, was a visiting professor at UNF in 2013. After expressing scientific interest in the group's research, he joined the group as a visiting post doctoral fellow

Rudeina Khoury, B.Sc.Rudy started working in the lab during the spring 2015 semester. She was a pre-medical biology major. She did research in the group for one semester. She graduated in the Spring 2016, and is working as a biologist in a local company. She is also preparing for medical school as well.

Branden VossBranden joined the group during the Spring 2015 semester. In parallel he worked as a student assistant at the Chemistry Department at UNF, as preparatory personnel for undergraduate labs. He worked on the x-ray diffractometer for about 1 year, collecting data of the groups crystals.
